The crankbrothers Candy is an iconic pedal designed by Carl and Frank, the original founders of crankbrothers. They were tired of struggling with mud-covered pedals that offered no easy entry or exit. Realizing that existing pedals were too complex, they set out to create a simpler solution. Their innovation resulted in a system with just two moving parts, hinging on a spring. This system became known as the eggbeater pedal, and it later evolved into the candy pedal. The Candy pedal is incredibly versatile and used by a wide range of riders. Whether on the trail, at cyclocross races, or even on commuter bikes, riders trust the cage around the 4-point engagement system to provide security and reliability. The Candy pedal offers a great alternative to the eggbeater pedal for those who prefer more surface area for their pedal body. Each pair of pedals comes with premium brass cleats and shims to customize the fit and feel. The release angle can be adjusted between 15° and 20°. With a 5-year warranty, these pedals are built to last. They weigh 304g per pair and feature a forged SCM435 chromoly steel spindle and a 2-piece machined aluminum body. The cast steel wings and 300 series stainless steel spring further enhance their durability. The inner bearing is a needle bearing, while the outer bearing is a cartridge bearing. There is no maximum rider weight restriction, making these pedals suitable for all riders. The Candy pedals are available in three color options: Black/Silver, Blue/Silver, and Red/Silver. For a customized fit, you can use crankbrothers tread contact sleeves (CRB-13282), which come with three different thicknesses. These shims ensure good contact between your shoes and the pedal axle, particularly as the tread wears down. Servicing the pedals is a breeze with the level 3 / 11 service kit (product code CRB-11730). No specialist tools are required, just a flat head screwdriver, socket wrench, and 8mm Allen key. We recommend cleaning and greasing the pedals every 30 hours of riding and inspecting the bearings for wear.
